about

I never thought I'd release what could be called an album in the first place, let alone a second one. And here is that second album, it's called "Trains and Cinemas" and it's here for your listening pleasure. Once again- as on 'Playgrounds'- bass and drums are played where the whole thing was recorded- on Garageband on my iPhone, using my fingers. Whether it's better or worse than that album is down to you, but I definitely think it's more developed musically. Thank you to everybody who inspired the songs and thank you to everybody who is reading this and thank you to any of you who give any of this a listen- I love you for it. I've been working on this for just shy of a year and retrospectively I wouldn't have procrastinated any differently. As was the case with 'Playgrounds' every song on here was written about somebody, maybe that person is you! You won't know unless you listen to every song, I suppose. (Oh dear)

Track Name: The Trees Have Seen It All Before
Look at her man
He's laying outside in his sick and his pride
He says it's worth it
I don't quite see that
But I don't quite see a lot of things

She doesn't smoke
But it's a special occasion yeah her heart has been broken
She says it's worth it
I don't quite see that
But I don't quite see a lot of things

I guess they were sweeter because they were his cigarettes anyway
Now he can't afford any new one's 'til he gets paid

Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh...

Look at us sit
Out on the pavement wondering what the sky meant
It feels like we're in a Wes Anderson film
And the smile on my face lasts in to the next day

It's been a bad night
For everyone here but I quite like the conflict
I don't think it's worth it
My friends don't deserve it
But the smile on my face lasts in to the next day

Sounds like someone's crying
The part isn't going as they'd planned
Now she's gonna have to clear the sick off the patio ground

Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh...

The trees are looking happy
They're doing fine just rooted to the ground
They know that you'll be okay
They've seen plenty of kids like you come around
Track Name: Above The Land
Now he's not just a name upon a page with all the others his age
There'll be poems about tonight
Floating around like mosquitos, they bite

And now you cry bi-nightly and I would too
'Cause his t-shirts haven't started to smell like you yet
I bet those old people seem pretty selfish now
With their immovable minds and their slippers that bind them to the floor
He's worth more
He's worth more

These days I spend my time underground
('Cause I'm coming to see you on The Underground)
You probably wish you did too now
(But I'll hold your hand and stand above it with you)

There's a radio somewhere and it's playing your songs
Tonight they've got to know where all his things are gonna go
I'll hold your hand and keep you above the land with me

It's cold and it loves you
It's old and it hurts you 'til you are too
There's no hope anymore
Just a room with a closed door and the items excavated
There'll be poems about tonight
Floating around like mosquitos they bite
There'll be poems about tonight
Floating around like mosquitos they bite

These days I spend my time underground
('Cause I'm coming to see you on The Underground)
You probably wish you did too now
(But I'll hold your hand and stand above it with you)

There's a radio somewhere and it's playing your songs
Tonight they've got to know where all his things are gonna go
I'll hold your hand and keep you above the land with me
With me
With me
Track Name: Central Line Dreams
Do you remember the first time at Marble Arch?
'Cause that was the start
You've lost your old friends, you pushed them away
'Cause they pushed you overboard

But don't you know?
Plans are impermenant
The breaze blew from East to West
It warmed you up now it freezes you
It freezes you to death

Do you remember the first time back at the house?
The time you first touched mouths
Up until then a name upon a screen
You wandered where she'd been all of your life
And then you knew
And then you knew

But you don't know
Plans are impermenant
The breaze blew from East to West
It warmed you up now it freezes you
It freezes you to death

And one day he'll wake up in a sweat and regret that his love ever stopped
It's no concelation to this cancellation of your Central Line dreams
Of your Central Line Dreams

But you don't know
Plans are impermenant
The breaze blew from East to West
It warmed you up now it freezes you
It freezes you
It freezes you to death
Track Name: You Poor Dog Tagged Girl
Don't you have anything better to do than smoke those cigarettes?
They'll kill you in the long run
Although I'm starting to think that's what you want done

Filling in your eyebrows to fill fiction in to facts
To compensate for confidence
But your zealous presence becomes a nuisance

And now she even does her hair like she's troubled
Keep off the internet your problems'll double
Your history's trying to break loose
'Cause it's tied around your neck like a noose or a dog tag
You poor dog tagged girl

Don't you have anything better to do than still bother with me?
I just wasn't there for you
And I didn't know it'd do that to you

We fill in the memories as if they're fantasy not fact
To numb the wounds that scar your torso
The pains in your brain pain you more so

Well now she's even done her hair like she's troubled
Keep off the internet your problems'll double
Your history's trying to break loose
'Cause it's tied around your neck like a noose or a dog tag
You poor dog tagged girl

And I
I'm sorry that I screwed you over at the wrong time
I just wish that I could've made up my mind
Could've made up my mind
Could've made up my mind
Could've made up my mind
Track Name: It's Not Easy
I don't like wasps and flies are better crushed by rain
Despite my love of winter snow all looks the same
I've forgotten how to draw
My art's all gone to waste
But the sun's still shining in the past up out in space

Hug me 'til we overheat in British sun
With the temperature like this I guess it won't take long
I don't feel like I've grown up but my brain tells me it's true
Can't take a seat in Summer heat
Always something to do

And it's not easy
It's just not easy anymore
But it's not easy
It's just not easy anymore

It shouldn't surprise me that your hairline hasn't changed
It won't seem like a minute 'til that hairline starts to grey
The cool kids have gotten cool, they're better off that way
They hide their timid centres like I tried to every day

But it's not easy
But it's not easy anymore
Yeah it's not easy
It's just not easy anymore

I don't like feeling like I've wasted the whole day
Despite my love of gusts of wind they are a pain
I've forgotten how it was at parties with no drink
As far as I know I preferred not making neurons blink

But it's not easy
It's just not easy anymore
Yeah it's not easy
It's just not easy anymore

Yeah it's not easy
It's just not easy anymore
Yeah it's not easy
It's just not easymore
Yeah, yeah it's not easy
Yeah, it's just not easy
Track Name: Inside a Tiny Box (Part ii)
I want to dissolve you inside a tiny box
And take you up to London where we're more made for you
Now you've found your self-esteem
It's my favourite thing I've ever seen

You still don't get the words that you deserve
And the friends that you've made don't see your worth
I guess now I'll be a little closer
I guess I can give myself from there
For the time
Time

They're not your friends if you have to settle for them
They're just kids you have to settle for
It's not an omen good or bad
But you deserve more than sliding with that
This time
Time
This time

I'll file these words away
Under 'the things I wanted to say on the tube that day'
I'll file these words away
Because they meant more face to face

And just because my life isn't yours inside a tiny box anymore
It doesn't mean that I'm not there
In fact, it's quite on the contrary
Track Name: There's No Such Thing As Normal Anyway
I've met a girl and she's just like you
She cries in the night and writes poems like you do too
The magic from her mind, it translates to the page
And maybe one day I will read the words that she says

I've met a girl and she's just like you
She falls in the cracks and her back snaps and gets caught
She's got a mind that'll do something big
While she's up above the land
Yeah, I'll hold her hand

You say "there's no such thing as normal anyway"
And now I know why

So what's your ailment?
'Cause here is mine
Spent all this time thinking everybody else was okay
And you were fine

I've met a girl and she's just like you
She hurts all over and she hides it how you do too
And she's a best friend like you'll always be
She always holds doors and she's kind to everybody she sees

I've met a girl and she's just like you
She grips with her nails and her structure shakes when she cries
I know all her secrets 'cause I've seen them before
'Cause she's just like you
Yeah, and she's just like you

And you say "there's no such thing as normal anyway"
And now I know why
And now I know why

So what's your ailment?
'Cause here is mine
Spent all this time thinking everybody else was okay
And you were fine

So why read Plato?
Yeah, maybe it's to make sense of the world
To remind her that there's knowledge beyond her own
Since she thinks she has none
And I think she is wrong
She wouldn't agree anyway
'Cause she's just like you
Yeah, she's just like you
Track Name: Tiny Lion
(Tiny lion)
Your voice is squeeky
Your smile is wide
(Tiny lion)
I hope you work out
How you feel inside

(You're so bouncy)
Your eyes are so bright
(Despite all those things)
You feel at night

Your curls fall over your face
Like you always light up this place
Sitting on the floor or just running past our door
And even when you get ignored
I hope one day you don't hurt anymore

(Tiny lion)
You're so excited
Yeah, you seem extatic
(Tiny lion)
You seem unhappy
Learning to hide it

(Your laugh is bubbly)
You get so attached
But I think it's great
Yeah you shouldn't change that

Your curls fall over your face
Like you always light up this place
Sitting on the floor or just walking past our door
And even when you get ignored
I hope one day you don't hurt anymore

Whenever I speak
I say that love can seem bleak
If you get there with someone who don't care what you think
Now you're out of that hole
Don't need to hurt anymore
You're surrounded by love
So what are those silent tears for?

Tiny lion
Tiny lion
Whatever we do
We care about you
Tiny lion
Tiny lion

Tiny lion
Tiny lion
Tiny lion
Whatever we do
We care about you
Track Name: Alright
I know I have no right to feel the way I feel today
I knew you'd fucked the night before and confirmed it yesterday
I'm pleased for you, I really am
I can begin to understand
How I had made you cry that night I'd experienced first hand

It's not a stab and it's not betrayal
And I'm happy all the same
But now I go to bed upset and I'm entirely to blame

Despite unfounded sad tonights
You force me to surpass alright
I never want to never know you
Yeah, you mean the world to me

This meloncholy, it doesn't matter
All my mistakes, no I won't bother
Singing what you already know
I didn't mean to hurt you though

I'm sorry for making you cry
It's just the way I am, you see
You're worth more than I could ever tell you
You're worth that much to me

Now my stomach drops when I see girls in waiting rooms with me
This unspecific angst I feel makes me believe that I'm thirteen

Despite unfounded sad tonights
You always make me feel alright
I always want to always know you
Yeah, you're everything to me

I think I mean the world to you
You're that and more to me
Thanks for always being there
Because you're so lovely
You're so lovely
Yeah, you're lovely
You're lovely
You're lovely
Track Name: Trains and Cinemas
Romford was my early teens
The cinema and forged IDs we'd use
To get to films that were 15s
And going home or sleeping over
Taking busses and growing older

Westfield Stratford was my latter teens
The £12 cinema we'd go to
The certificate 15s didn't need IDs
'Cause I'm 18 and earn the money I need for the cinema
And for tubing home to Hertfordshire
Via Farringdon was always faster

But now we live to be human machinery
We're trapped in our little ways
In every way
Most every day

Yeah, once they came to Borehamwood
Not North Greenwich or South Woodford
They complain about the length of journey
When every day I woke up early
And dragged myself to Barkingside
Not home, Bushey, or Barnet side
And with every film it became more worth it
All my friends became more perfect
Yeah all my friends became more perfect

It's all over soon
We watch our films to end our June
And I think I'll refuse the end
Don't want to see what happens then

Woodford was my Year 13
And my friends said they'd come with me
To indie films I want to see
Concluding frequent memories of me

We live to be human machinery
We're trapped in our little ways
In every way
Most every day
